The house & its character

A period residence, kept as a home — not an institution

Norway Lodge stands on Reservoir Road in Prenton: a turreted Victorian residence of brick and timbered gable, set back behind mature trees and a lawned garden that residents and families are free to enjoy.

Inside, it remains a comfortable home rather than a cold care facility — warm lounges, a light-filled dining room, and twenty-nine residents at most. Small enough that our qualified, kind nursing staff know each resident well: their families, their history, and precisely how they take their afternoon tea.

  • Qualified nurses on duty 24 hours a day
  • Mature private gardens and a summerhouse
  • Freshly prepared meals with genuine choice

Our care

Three ways we can help

Every resident has a personal plan of care, written with them and their family and kept under review by our nursing team. We work closely with local GPs and visiting healthcare professionals, so decisions are made properly and nothing is left to chance.

Residential nursing care

Long-term care for those with ongoing nursing needs — delivered around the clock by qualified nurses and experienced carers who know each resident well, with dignity always first.

Respite & short stays

A restorative stay while a family carer takes a well-earned break, or a comfortable place to convalesce. Short-stay guests receive precisely the same care, cooking and company.

Discharge to assess

A safe and settled bridge between hospital and home: skilled nursing care while longer-term needs are properly assessed, in partnership with hospital and community teams.

In families' words

What families say

Genuine words from residents and their relatives — including comments recorded in our 2026 CQC report. Names are withheld for privacy.

My father spent his final year at Norway Lodge. The care was outstanding. The building has a true, historic character, and the garden is stunning — but the absolute jewel is the staff. Nothing was too much trouble, and they treated him with unparalleled dignity.

I can't fault it; the staff are wonderful — they look after me well. There is nothing I would change here — I don't want for anything.

CQC report · 2026

Discharged to Norway Lodge from hospital to aid my recovery, I felt like a guest in an old manor house rather than a patient in an institution. The food is wonderful, and tea in the tower bay window was a daily highlight.

It's an exceptional care home and I feel very lucky my relative is there — they really should win an award. The staff are second to none.

CQC report · 2026

We placed our mother here with some hesitation, as she valued her privacy. The staff immediately adapted to her unhurried routine — serving tea in her room and making sure she could enjoy the gardens at her leisure. We are forever grateful.
